Iran's Role in Paving Way for Imam Mahdi's Return Is What US, Israel Really Fear: Cleric

A seminary lecturer says the enemies of Iran understand that the Islamic Republic holds a special place in Islamic narrations concerning the groundwork for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH), and are therefore seeking to prevent this movement from reaching its ultimate destination.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Seyyed Hossein Aqamiri made the remarks at the holy Jamkaran Mosque, pointing to the ideological roots of the enemies’ confrontation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. He said that by referring to Quranic and narrative sources, one can better understand many of the issues and obstacles currently facing the monotheistic movement and the groundwork for Imam Mahdi’s (PBUH) global government.

“Hostility toward the Islamic Revolution has always existed in past years, but gradually the hidden layers of this confrontation have been removed and its nature has become more evident,” he said. “This process shows that the issue should not be analyzed merely within the framework of political differences; rather, the ideological roots and deeper objectives of this confrontation must also be considered.”

Iran in the Narrations of the End Times

Referring to Iran’s place in narrations related to the end times, the speaker said: “One of the topics that must be reflected upon is the place of the Iranian people in narrations concerning the groundwork for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH). The enemies are also aware of the importance of this issue and are trying to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from fulfilling this role.”

Aqamiri referred to narrations about the role of the Iranian people in supporting God’s religion, saying: “In the interpretation of verse 54 of Surah al-Ma’idah, narrations have been transmitted about a people whom God replaces with a group that has distanced itself from the path of religion. In some narrations, the people of Iran and their role in supporting religion are also mentioned.”

Citing the narration “A man from Qom calls people to the truth, and a steadfast group gathers around him,” he emphasized the need to pay attention to the status of Qom and the holy Jamkaran Mosque in Mahdist culture. “The existence of holy centers and places in Iran’s geography must be examined in the historical and religious context of this land and its role in educating believing generations,” he said.

Jamkaran Mosque: More Than a Pilgrimage Site

Referring to the status of the holy Jamkaran Mosque in Mahdist beliefs, Aqamiri said: “Presence at Jamkaran Mosque and seeking intercession from Imam Mahdi (PBUH) should not be limited merely to devotional acts and pilgrimage rituals; rather, it must be accompanied by understanding the responsibilities of those awaiting him and striving to realize religious ideals.”

“The enemies have no problem with the principle of prayer and certain religious rituals, but what matters to them is preventing the formation of a movement that can stand against domination and arrogance and pave the way for the realization of global justice,” he added.

The speaker noted: “One of the important messages of the culture of awaiting [Imam Mahdi] is that human beings should not be passive in the face of oppression and domination, and should know that standing up to arrogant powers is possible. This belief can play a role in awakening nations and changing global equations.”

Iranian Resistance Exposes Enemy’s True Nature

Referring to years of confrontation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States and the Zionist regime, he said: “During the Sacred Defense, Imam Khomeini also described this confrontation as the entirety of truth facing the entirety of falsehood — while some at that time considered the issue merely a dispute over borders. Subsequent developments and published documents about various countries’ support for Saddam’s Baathist regime showed that the dimensions of this confrontation went beyond a border dispute.”

Aqamiri continued: “The resistance of the Iranian people, their presence on the scene, and their obedience to the leadership have caused the enemy to face serious obstacles in achieving its goals.” In his view, the clearer exposure of the enemy’s positions should be analyzed alongside the people’s resistance and the failure of various plots against Iran.

Emphasizing the need to correctly understand the nature of the current confrontation, he added: “We must not allow the main issue to remain distant from society’s view through superficial analyses or false addresses. Understanding the enemy’s objectives and paying attention to the ideological foundations of the Islamic Revolution are necessities of this stage.”

Obedience to the Leadership: The Path Through the Complexities of Hybrid War

In the final part of his remarks, Aqamiri referred to the complex conditions of confrontation with enemies and emphasized the need to maintain national unity and obedience to the leadership. “To pass through these conditions, society’s outlook and behavior must be aligned with the guidance of the Guardian of the Community, and the people must maintain their cohesion in defending the country and the ideals of the revolution,” he said.
